Client’s Requirement
The client, an established economic news portal in Albania, sought to modernize their decade-old WordPress website, which housed over 120,000 articles. They needed a fresh, modern UI akin to Bloomberg or Financial Times, and a more intuitive admin interface to streamline daily content management. Additionally, they wanted to implement a subscription model offering various tiers of access to premium articles and monthly magazines, enhancing user engagement and revenue.
What I did
The primary challenge was reorganizing thousands of articles across numerous categories and ensuring seamless redirections from old category links to new ones. I recommended a complete rebuild of the website from scratch, migrating all 120,000 articles into a new database using WP Import and WP Export plugins. With the data securely migrated, I proceeded with designing and developing a modern, intuitive UI for both desktop and mobile versions, drawing inspiration from leading financial news sites. I implemented a subscription model using the MemberPress plugin, enabling tiered access to premium articles and monthly magazines. Additionally, I integrated custom APIs to create new pages, such as billionaire rankings and top business lists, as requested by the client.
